Tourist Visa :
You must be in possession of your visa AT ALL TIMES! The participants should carry their visa with them always and provide it if asked by the authorities. This is obviously something all participants need to apply for and budget months in advance before the rally. The costs are minimal, but it’s best to plan ahead since every embassy or agency is different and the length of time varies. Check with your applicable embassy on the internet or call them directly.
International Driver’s License :
Each participant must be in possession of a two or four wheel International Driver’s License for 2007 along with the original official license of your origin which must be presented on check day. No license is required for the assistance category. Again the costs are minimal, but check with your vehicle insurance or registration agency to apply.
Funds for fuel :
Your registration and deposit DOES NOT cover your fueling costs. So be aware of this before the rally. You need to determine the amount by calculating the distance of the rally and the fuel consumption of the autorickshaw. The average gas tank size is 8 liters (2 gal.) and the gas tank distance is 145 km to 190 km (90 mi to 120 mi).
Funds for food and shopping :
Your time in India throughout the rally will be best enjoyed in the evenings eating and partying after a long competitive but rewarding day, as well as the days off to eat and shop for souvenirs. So make sure you budget yourself so that you can treat yourself and your team, friends, and any family you brought along for the ride! ATM’s are available as well in many cities throughout your journey, but be aware of your bank fees for withdrawals. Sometimes it’s best to bring plenty of cash and exchange it, but just be careful and aware of your surroundings.
Optional Items listed above can be brought along to make your experience easier and more enjoyable. Take your backpack and gear with you and try to fill it with as much as you can take. A surplus supply or camping store is usually a one stop for all your needs, such as tents, GPS devices, first aid and small repair tool kits. The survivors in the end are always more prepared! So take note! Remember though, accommodations at the beginning and the end of the rally are covered from your registration. Other days are your responsibility. Food, drinks and accommodations are always available nearby, so plan ahead!
