  Compulsory

This is going to be the longest stage of the whole trip. It would be best if you leave the hotel by 7am so you’ll be out of Pondicherry by 8am latest. The whole stage is about 240 kms and you will need to pass through many towns and also be able to navigate out of them.

Use the map that was given to you to go on the road surrounding Pondicherry and follow the signs to Cuddalore.

Task #1 – Silver Beach Get to the Silver Beach and find out what 4 of the same objects are located right next to each other.

HOW TO GET THERE:
When you get out of Pondicherry and drive in the Cuddalore / Chidampuram direction, you will see a sign to Scenic Silver Beach. Turn left and get to the beach. The sign is located at N11d54.240 E079d54.729

Once you get to the beach, the actual task is located at N11d44.377 E079d47.165 .

Task #2 – Petrol Station at Chidambaram – COMPULSARY
Fill petrol at Sivaraman Agencies and get a payment bill from the petrol station. It is located on the LHS before the Chidambaram town at about a distance of 75 km from Pondicherry.

Task #3 - Vaitheeswaran Temple
Get to the Vaitheiswaran Temple and answer the following
Questions:

1. To what God is this temple dedicated to?
2. What is this structure surrounded by (picture)?

HOW TO GET THERE:

Get to Chidambaram and take a left turn to the bridge. At the entrance of the bridge there are two Ashoka pillars with 4 lions on each of them. The point is located at N11d26.477 E079d38.921 . You’ll also be able to see a local superstar monument at the turn to the bridge. As it usually happens in India, the statue is pointing his finger somewhere up (other known variations: left, right, straight).

After passing the bridge you’ll need to take another left to Sirkazhi – Karaikkal . Just find the sign that says that. The actual turn is right across a big temple. The turn is located at N11d23.824 E079d41.613

Get to Sirkazhi following the signs. After Sirkazhi you need to follow the road to Mayiladuturai. When you leave Sirkazhi you’ll see a sign located at N11d13.088 E079d44.262 instructing you to go straight to Mayiladuturai.

3km from that sign is a town called Vaitheiswarankovil where you need to complete your tasks.

To get to Thanjavur follow the road to Mayiladuturai. Once you get to town ask locals on how to proceed to Thanjavur. At some point you will reach a road with a police point and a sign in the middle of the road saying “NO ENTRY & HOTEL CHILAMBU” (when we went there it was closed, if its open then just go straight) so you will have to go to the right.

If you had to go to the right at that turn, take another rightat the next police point.

Then follow the road to Thiruvidaimarthur and when you reach it you’ll see a sign pointing to Thanjavur where the “highway” starts. The big sign is going to be on the right. On the left side you’ll see a sign in tamil saying Thanjavur 45km even though the signs are just across the road from each other. The turn is located at N10d58.287 E079d24.065

Task #4 – Petrol Station at Mayiladuthurai – COMPULSARY

Fill petrol at Aruna Agencies and get a payment bill from the petrol station. It is located on the LHS at Mayiladuthurai at about a distance of 50 km from Chidambaram.
