MANGALORE: Protesting against the District Administration’s decision of postponing the review of autorickshaw fares, Yuvashakti organisation will go on strike from the midnight of August 3 to August 4. Autorickshaws affiliated to Yuvashakti organisation will not ply during the above mentioned time. MANGALORE, AUG 1: The city-based various autorickshaw associations have decided to hold a day-long rickshaw strike on Friday August 4 demanding a hike in fare. A decision in this regard was taken during the meeting of various rickshaw associations such as CITU, HMS, Shramika Sanghatane, Minority Drivers and Owners Associations. Police reach out to youth in old city (July 29, 2006)
HYDERABAD: Extending a helping hand to the unemployed youth of old city, the city police on Friday expressed willingness to train eligible candidates for private security guard posts.
Speaking at a programme organised at Charminar in old city to help local autorickshaw drivers secure driving licenses, Traffic Police Additional Commissioner A.K. Khan said there was huge demand from private companies for security guards. Traffic diversion, a relief to school students (July 29, 2006)
Diversion of vehicles from Kamarajar Salai through the Nochikuppam bypass near Light House has come as a relief to school students of this congested area. Police announced the diversion on Monday last, mainly to decongest the Santhome High Road during morning and evening peak hours. AHMEDABAD, JULY 27: In mid-June, a pre-paid autorickshaw stand was set up at Kalupur railway station. The idea was to prevent autorickshaw drivers from fleecing passengers and also to let passengers wanting to travel short distances get an auto. Call centre may be set up to register complaints against autorickshaw drivers (July 27, 2006)
BANGALORE: The Transport Department will soon open a 24-hour call centre in Bangalore to register complaints about problems faced by the public while hiring autorickshaws.
Transport Commissioner M.C. Narayana Gowda said this at the inauguration of "Capacity building programme for service providers" organised by the Karnataka Tourism Forum, the Tourism Department and the Transport Department here on Wednesday.
